I'm getting married! Finally. :)
While the URL for this blog is no longer accurate, I decided I might as well use it since it's already set up and I've commented from this profile.
I might use this to record my wedding planning thoughts...or I might post this once and forget about it for a few months. But since wedding planning has proven to be an excellent distraction from all the more pressing things I really should be doing (cite check, class reading, my laundry, even sleeping), this might actually be more than a one-time thing.
So, wedding planning. Everything will be blue and white, with maybe a touch of indigo or purple here and there. Blue and white are being interpreted very broadly. I'm incredibly cheap and also a control freak, so I'm going to try and do as much myself as possible. I've know people who haven't hired a caterer, but I will be hiring one. I'll be hiring a photographer. And my church requires use of their wedding coordinator. Other than that, I don't think I'll be using any wedding vendors.
Invites: Consulted with A. last weekend, doing some creative planning with Mom this weekend. Made by me/Mom/friends, of course.
Flowers: A bulk order, with bouquets made by me and the bridesmaids, and centerpieces put together by me and whoever is willing to help. We'll probably also make the corsages and boutonnières, too. Thanks to two weddings this summer for which I helped the bride do her own flowers, I know how easy this is. White roses, white carnations, and baby's breath.
Dress: Purchased second hand because I can't conceive of spending more than $200 on a dress. And I hope to spend much less. Of course, I've found the perfect dress, and it's $800. I'm obsessively checking ebay for it. Given my propensity to never finish sewing projects, it'd be crazy to make it...but I've thought about it.
Wedding party: Mostly TBD. But the bridesmaids will wear blue, a-line, knee- or tea-length dresses, possibly from Target. The groomsmen will probably be in their own black suits with white shirts and matching blue ties.
Decorations: Probably some candles as allowed by my church. Not much decoration for the chapel because it's too big of a space to feasibly decorate much. White flowers in Mason jars tied with blue ribbon, on a runner of blue patterned fabric, over white tablecloths for the reception. Maybe some candles thrown in there, too.
Greatest deal so far: Boxes of 50 thank you cards for $3.33 from FedEx Office.
